5 th week reflection

  The 63rd Kerala State School Arts Festival hosted at Thiruvananthapuram this week from 4th January 2025 to 8th January 2025. From 6th January to 8th January I had duties as part of the Arts Festival at the Putharikandam ground and at GGHSS, Cottonhill.

GGHSS, Cottonhill was arranged as the stage - 9, Kalladayar, where the Kathakali competitions were held. The food committees for the Arts festival were arranged at the Putharikandam ground and B.Ed trainees were asked to help there. So I had duty on 6th January there. For the rest of the Arts Festival days I did duty at Cottonhill school.

So this week the regular classes commenced for only two days and I could only complete one lesson templates this week. Also this Friday, there was a PTA meeting for the students of 8th from 2.30 .



In lesson template no:17, I formally started the chapter with the Quadrilaterals section 'Same Area'. The idea was about the same area of a rectangle and a parallelogram. So I used the models of rectangle and parallelogram. For the rest, I used whiteboard to convey the ideas of change in area. The application part included a construction problem. So I used constructing tools for the whiteboard for that. I gave a home assignment question in the same pattern of the application problem.

lesson template no: 18, I used models of triangle and parallelogram to recollect the properties of those quadrilaterals which was required in today's lesson. I started the presentation with an activity using activity cards. Using the activity it was easier to generalize the idea of area of a parallelogram. I showed the generalized result on a chart also. I added recapitulation questions and a home assignment problem too.

  In this week, I started the chapter 'Ratio'. Sheeja teacher visited my class on 28/11/2024 for the first class observation during this phase. In this week, I completed 8 lesson templates from the chapter. In this week, I got many classes in 8E by substitutions by which I was able to complete the lesson templates with ease along with maintaining a rapport with the students.  In lesson template no:2, I prepared a lesson to introduce the principle of ratio of two quantities. I used activity cards and PPT as the teaching aids. For the activity, I used a chart as well. I put the generalized idea on the ppt. I also prepared an application question to use this principle. 8 th week reflection

  In this week, I took 9  lessons in total. Also, on Monday, I had my 2nd optional observation class by Sheeja teacher. There was a state-wide campaign program on drug abuse hosted by Cottonhill school on October 2nd, as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The program was arranged by the Education Department, Govt. of Kerala, in which Hon'ble Education minister Shri. V. Shivankutty inaugurated the debate stage.  I studied some sections on the chapter identities in class 8. Inductive method is used as the method of teaching. The interaction between teacher and student was good. I can manage the class. My blackboard work was near and legible. For some of the class I used activity card, and used chart for presentation. I give proper reinforcement to the students. The students give proper response to my question. I think the overall performance was good in this week.
