3 rd week reflection
In this week, I completed 5 more lesson templates. As the exams are nearby, the teachers advised to complete the portions quickly in order to start the revisions. So I completed half of the chapter, 'Ratio' which was for examinations in 8F. In this week, I did lunch duty for two days and evening line duty everyday. 03/12/2024 was declared a restricted holiday for the offices and educational institutions under Trivandrum corporation because of the Bemapalli procession. So it was a holiday for the school. On 05/12/2024, I had class observation by Vanaja teache Also, our teaching practice is paused for some period and will be resumed after the half- yearly examinations followed by the Christmas vacations.
In lesson template no: 8, I started the problems from textbook from the section 'Changing Relations'. I used PPT as the teaching aid to present the problems. I used some models too to demonstrate certain problems with ease. I prepared a placard to show the question also. I conducted questioning well in the class as well. I think I did effectively conducted the class.
In lesson template no: 9, I prepared a lesson template to practice more problems from the textbook. I used some models to demonstrate the problems like some bottles and rectangles. I faced some distractions from students who came late into the class that day from field trip as part of Little Kites. I took measures to prevent this from happening again from the next class.
In lesson template no: 10, I started the section 'Three quantities' from the chapter 'Ratio' using a constructivist model. I used a stick with knots for the situation part and I used activity cards for the grouping part. Then I bridged the ideas together to exhibit the generalized idea. I think the use of model was suitable for the lesson as it included every requirements for gaining the attention of students throughout the class.
In lesson template no: 11, I had observation by Vanaja teacher. I started the class by telling them an interesting story which helped to make students active in the class. Then I grouped them and distributed activity cards related to right triangles. Then I presented the generalized results on a ppt along with the application and home assignment questions. Teacher advised me to improve sound modulation and class management and to be careful on time management.
In lesson template no: 12, I used PPT to present questions and model of triangle to clearly explain the questions. For the application question, I used bowls with colored beads to demonstrate the question to the students. This method helped me to easily gain attention from students while taking classes. Involving students in these activities has also helped to a great extent. Students were able to deliver the answers for my questions lso.
