Reflection on 10 th week

  In this week, I completed the lesson plans 32 to 38 in the classes 8J. The chapter 'Identities' has been completed in this week. A new chapter 'Money Math' was started also. Some major identities has been taught geometrically with the help of teaching aids like Models, charts and PPT presentations.


In lesson template No: 32, the identity which was taught needed using models to present the geometrical idea of the same. Apart from the models, I used activity cards too for engaging student activities. On that class, almost everything was managed including time and classroom order. Use of activity cards has always helped in enhancing students' interest and engagement in the class. 


In lesson template No: 33, on the topic 'Difference of squares', I had used another set of models and activity cards which enabled to present the same identity in a different interpreting way. It was the same identity viewed in a different way and included application problems to affix the new idea on the students. By this lesson, I managed to complete the last section of the chapter theoretically.


In lesson template No: 34, I considered the important problems from the last section section of the chapter. Most of the students managed to find solutions of the problems using the theory from the previous classes. Checking their prior knowledge before starting each class has ensured their regular improvements in learning. Along with the problems, the activities conducted has also made students active in the classroom learning procedures.


By the lesson template no: 35, I concluded the chapter 'Identities' by working out some different type of problems related to calendar math. The class was rather interesting, more like games, to the students. It was more ideal for a lesson to be the last. So I could definitely tell the students enjoyed this last lesson of the chapter.


On the next day, by lesson template No: 36, I started the chapter 'Money Math'. This lesson was more intended on recalling the required previous knowledge of the students but in a time consuming and relaxing way

  In this week, I started the chapter 'Ratio'. Sheeja teacher visited my class on 28/11/2024 for the first class observation during this phase. In this week, I completed 8 lesson templates from the chapter. In this week, I got many classes in 8E by substitutions by which I was able to complete the lesson templates with ease along with maintaining a rapport with the students.  In lesson template no:2, I prepared a lesson to introduce the principle of ratio of two quantities. I used activity cards and PPT as the teaching aids. For the activity, I used a chart as well. I put the generalized idea on the ppt. I also prepared an application question to use this principle. There were distractions in the class and I was trying to improve my class management. 8 th week reflection

  In this week, I took 9  lessons in total. Also, on Monday, I had my 2nd optional observation class by Sheeja teacher. There was a state-wide campaign program on drug abuse hosted by Cottonhill school on October 2nd, as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The program was arranged by the Education Department, Govt. of Kerala, in which Hon'ble Education minister Shri. V. Shivankutty inaugurated the debate stage.  I studied some sections on the chapter identities in class 8. Inductive method is used as the method of teaching. The interaction between teacher and student was good. I can manage the class. My blackboard work was near and legible. For some of the class I used activity card, and used chart for presentation. I give proper reinforcement to the students. The students give proper response to my question. I think the overall performance was good in this week.
